Operation

To use the calculator choose a tab, and enter values into the input fields, and click Calculate to generate a result. Please note the following:

• Each input field can take as many values as you like by separating them with commas.
• Input fields are shared across all tabs.
• The Clear button clears all input fields.

Bookmarking

Clicking on the Bookmark link, will update the pages url so you can bookmark the calculators current state.

Downloading

Clicking on the Download link, will download a fully functional copy of the calculator than can be run offline.

Definitions

• DIA The diameter of the work piece on a lathe, or the cutter on a mill.
• IPM The speed in inches/minute that a lathe carriage moves, or that a mill table traverses.
• IPT On a lathe this is the feed rate in inches/rev. On a mill this is the thickness of the chip produced per flute/tooth of the cutter.
• RPM The rotational speed of the work piece on a lathe, or the cutter on a mill.
• SFPM The speed in feet/minute, that the circumference of the work piece on a lathe is traveling. On a mill it is the speed the circumference of the cutter is traveling.
• Teeth For a mill this is the number of flutes/teeth on the cutter, on a lathe this should be set to 1.
